Photo of the Day: Worst Telephone-Pole-in-Sidewalk Photo Ever

Eric Fredericks • Monday January 23, 2006
Telephone Pole in Middle of Sidewalk - MLK Jr Blvd, Sacramento

I took these photos last Saturday during a walking audit led by Walk Sacramento through Sacramento’s Oak Park Community. The width of the sidewalk is supposed to be about four feet wide. However, with the pole, the width was probably less than two feet wide. Plus, there was a fence right up against the sidewalk on the other side which automatically takes about a foot of usable space of the sidewalk away. What was the City thinking? This is the worst example I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of bad examples. There were many other bad examples along this stretch of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, but this took the cake.

Check out the photo gallery from the walk. I will post an article on my post-audit thoughts and more photos in the upcoming days.
